Volleyball Game Preview: Payson Lions vs. Maple Mountain Eagles

The Payson Lions will head out to take on the Maple Mountain Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Payson managed to slip by Desert Hills the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions came up short against the Thunder on Saturday, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Maple Mountain faced Spanish Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Dons 3-0. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Maple Mountain got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 30-28, 25-17.

Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Maple Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.

Payson suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Maple Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
