Basketball Game Preview: Van Vleck Leopards vs. Hitchcock Bulldogs

Van Vleck hasn't had much luck against Hitchcock recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Van Vleck Leopards will face off against the Hitchcock Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Van Vleck is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 60-43 win over Hempstead on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Leopards as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Hitchcock waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 67-56 win over the Cougars. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Cougars are ranked 963rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hitchcock is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Van Vleck, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-12.

Van Vleck was dealt a bruising 90-46 loss at the hands of Hitchcock in their previous matchup two weeks ago. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Van Vleck was down 51-18.
