Volleyball Game Preview: Watsonville Wildcatz vs. Aptos Mariners

The Watsonville Wildcatz will head out on the road to challenge the Aptos Mariners at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Watsonville is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 11th on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Salinas. The Wildcatz haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Watsonville had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Aptos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Santa Cruz, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-9, 25-18.

Aptos' defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Watsonville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Watsonville might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Aptos in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcatz avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
