Basketball Recap: Potter's House Christian Comes Up Short

Potter's House Christian was the 80-59 winner over Downey Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Potter's House Christian Lions lost to the Downey Christian Patriots at home by a 77-61 margin on Saturday. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Downey Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maylon Marte out in front who went 9 of 12 on his way to 26 points. Marte is also crushing it when it comes to field goal percentage: he's posted at least zero every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rhiaughn Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Potter's House Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Downey Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-10.

We've got a battle between Lions coming up. Potter's House Christian will need to watch out since The Rock National has now posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Downey Christian, they will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent on Tuesday.
