Basketball Preview: Cassopolis Rangers vs. Bloomingdale Cardinals
After five games on the road, Cassopolis is heading back home. They will take on the Bloomingdale Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Saturday, it was a hard-fought match, but Cassopolis had to settle for a 40-38 loss against the Shamrocks. While losing is never fun, Cassopolis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 170th).
Cassopolis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Malachi Ward, who scored ten points along with six steals, and Tre Peterson Evans who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals. Kenny May was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bloomingdale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Centreville, falling 66-27.
Cassopolis' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bloomingdale, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Cassopolis against the Cardinals in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-23 victory. Does Cassopolis have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
