Volleyball Recap: James Irwin Comes Up Short

If James Irwin was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Atlas Preparatory School on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars lost 3-0 to the Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders on Wednesday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

While James Irwin was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-10, 25-12.

Harris Khan paced James Irwin's offense, picking up six kills. Khan got some help from Antony Luna Orozco and his ten assists. Darien Soriano controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

James Irwin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Thomas MacLaren School, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. James Irwin is set to challenge their familiar foe The Vanguard School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Thomas MacLaren School will face off against rival Pueblo South at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
