Baseball Recap: Williamson Takes a Loss

Williamson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Pleasant Grove Spartans, falling 20-9.

Todrick Withers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Williamson: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Oneal Thomas III was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Williamson's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Williamson will square off against Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thundering Herd have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Pleasant Grove, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Davidson on the 24th.
