Basketball Recap: Mendon Unity Comes Up Short

Mendon Unity had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it six. They fell just short of the West Prairie Cyclones by a score of 43-40. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for West Prairie, they now have a winning record of 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since December 19, 2024.

West Prairie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison McClure out in front who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Madelynn Sullivan, who scored eight points.

Looking ahead, Mendon Unity will square off against Hamilton/Warsaw at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Prairie, they will challenge Rushville-Industry at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones will be up against the Rockets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
