Basketball Recap: Ricky Serrano's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monte Alto over IDEA Edinburg College Prep

Monte Alto was the 63-53 winner over IDEA Edinburg College Prep when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Monte Alto Blue Devil took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of IDEA Edinburg College Prep on Tuesday.

Several Blue Devil players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ricky Serrano, who went 8 of 14 en route to 22 points. Serrano's morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drago Hernandez, who posted 13 points and five steals.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmanuel Zuniga, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Zuniga a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MIchael Meza, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Monte Alto's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Monte Alto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-46 defeat against Vanguard Academy Rembrandt on the 10th. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 33-29 victory against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 10th.
