Softball Game Preview: Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates vs. Laingsburg Wolfpack

The Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates will head out to square off against the Laingsburg Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Pewamo-Westphalia has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Wednesday, it was close, but Pewamo-Westphalia sidestepped Saranac for an 8-7 victory.

Makayla McRae spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Peyton Eklund was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reylee Thelen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Laingsburg came out on top against Owosso on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Wolfpack sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Trojans.

Pewamo-Westphalia's record is now 4-5. As for Laingsburg, their record now sits at 10-3.

Pewamo-Westphalia suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Laingsburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
