Softball Recap: Dougherty Valley's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

Dougherty Valley dropped their record down to 8-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the California Grizzlies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in March.

Dougherty Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marisa Rhee, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Rhee has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

As for California, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On California's side, not much got past Gabriella Nudo, who gave up just two hits to keep Dougherty Valley off the board.

On the hitting side, Alina Curiel and Jayda Crosby did most of the damage at the plate: Curiel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Crosby went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Crosby a new career-high. Kayla Steel also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
