Independence waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They never let the Butler Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 13 games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maliyah Alexander made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Clark, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Independence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.

Independence pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
