Soccer Game Preview: River Mill vs. Ascend Leadership

The River Mill Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Ascend Leadership Aviators at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

It was a proper cat-fight when River Mill challenged Cornerstone Charter on Friday. River Mill lost 8-1 to Cornerstone Charter. River Mill haven't had much luck with Cornerstone Charter recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, Ascend Leadership was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Southern Wake Academy, falling 7-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Ascend Leadership were already down 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Jordan Marines, who's now up to four this season.

Ascend Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for River Mill, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.

River Mill took their victory against Ascend Leadership in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Will River Mill repeat their success, or does Ascend Leadership has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
