Baseball Recap: Capital Golden Eagles vs. Ridgevue Warhawks
Capital had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 11-15 to make it eight. They came up short against the Ridgevue Warhawks, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warhawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-9 defeat on Wednesday.
Caden Werner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Ridgevue, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.
On Ridgevue's side, the team relied heavily on Chance Schreiber, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Schreiber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hirasaki, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Capital does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ridgevue, they will square off against Rocky Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warhawks will need to watch out since the Grizzlies have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
