Santa Monica proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 25) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the Loyola Cubs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Vikings were shut out 6-0 the last time they took on the Cubs, so the Vikings were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Eddie Jennings, who gave up just three hits to keep Loyola off the board. Jennings has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Santa Monica's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Kirtley, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Santa Monica has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Loyola, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Santa Monica wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-1 victory against Culver City on the 29th. As for Loyola, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Venice on the 26th.
