Football Game Preview: Centauri Falcons vs. Highland Huskies

The Centauri Falcons will square off against the Highland Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Centauri is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Centauri is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over North Fork. The Falcons pushed the score to 32-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Miners cut but never quite recovered from.

Sean Jarvies had a dynamite game, throwing for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also punching in two TDs on the ground. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024.

Centauri didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Fork to a completion percentage of just 28.6%. The Falcons hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.4 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Highland's offense rose to the challenge against a Fury defense that boasted an average of only 15 points allowed on Friday. The Huskies secured a 41-35 W over Forge Christian.

Highland had a senior duo take command as Elijah Elder gained 157 total yards and Tyler Varra threw for 139 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Varra's passing game has become a key predictor of the Huskies' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Centauri's record is now 9-1. As for Highland, their record now sits at 7-3.

Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Centauri has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
