Basketball Recap: Kandace Kroft Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tri-County, Winamac was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They managed a 44-39 victory over the Argos Dragons. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Winamac's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kandace Kroft, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Kroft a new career-high in blocks (two). Marissa Iverson was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Argos lost, don't look at Morgyn Barcus. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. With that strong performance, Barcus is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alydiah Leed, who posted 11 points along with five boards and four steals.

With the victory, Winamac broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Argos, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Winamac wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-37 win against DeMotte Christian on the 14th. As for Argos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-14 loss against Glenn on the 19th.
