Kit Carson found their leader in sophomore Avery Johnson, who went 8-for-13 on her way to 21 points and five steals. Johnson is becoming a predictor of Kit Carson's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 3-1 (and 6-11 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Rady, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] came up short against Cheraw on Thursday and fell 53-44. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 16-9 in the first quarter.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]'s loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Kit Carson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
