Basketball Game Preview: Whitehorse Raiders vs. Piute Thunderbirds

The Whitehorse Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Piute Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitehorse is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.

Whitehorse is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Monument Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Whitehorse blew Monument Valley out of the water with a 93-36 final score. With the Raiders ahead 51-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Whitehorse's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominic Dance, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Tohonnie, who put up 17 points.

Meanwhile, Piute entered their tilt with Valley on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They secured a 59-53 W over the Buffalos.

Piute pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Whitehorse, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Whitehorse, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Piute in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Whitehorse avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
