Softball Recap: South Rowan Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for South Rowan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let the Robinson Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Lexie Ritchie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Fisher, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Ritchie wasn't the only one working in the hit department: South Rowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

South Rowan pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Robinson, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Rowan will take on rival East Rowan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.8, the Mustangs 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Robinson is set to challenge their familiar foe Lake Norman Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
