Softball Recap: Villa Joseph Marie Comes Up Short

Villa Joseph Marie dropped their record down to 7-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 4-0 to the Merion Mercy Academy Golden Bears. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Jems haven't been shut out since back in April.

As for Merion Mercy Academy, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Merion Mercy Academy's part, not much got past Madison McGrath, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Villa Joseph Marie off the board. With that strong performance, McGrath is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hanna Trepts, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macie Lieb, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
