Basketball Recap: Shipley Takes a Loss

Shipley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 58-47 to the Germantown Academy Patriots. While losing is never fun, Shipley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Germantown Academy is ranked 116th).

Despite the loss, Shipley still got an impressive performance from Jack Naegle, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Naegle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevie Maniatis, who posted ten points and three steals.

Shipley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Germantown Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Shipley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-45 loss against Academy of the New Church on the 16th. Germantown Academy will take on Hun in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
