Baseball Recap: Jones Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Jones came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Chicago Washington Patriots on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Patriots last Friday, they had to take a 5-1 defeat.

Gio Delgado looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has become a key player for Jones: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Renzo Sansonetti was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christophe DeWijkerslooth, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Jones' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-6. As for Chicago Washington, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jones will take on Marian Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.91 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chicago Washington, they will square off against Solorio at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
