The Christopher Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Christopher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Christopher fell victim to Piedmont Hills and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 9-0 to the Pirates. The game marked the first time this season in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.
Christopher saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrina Cabanlit, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lincoln got the win against Oak Grove on Friday by a conclusive 15-2. Considering the Lions have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Khloe Pulido was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Serenity Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Christopher has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Lincoln, their record now sits at 12-7.
Christopher's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Christopher continue to outrun the ball?
Christopher might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Lincoln in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
