Basketball Game Preview: Dwyer Panthers vs. Monsignor Pace Spartans

The Dwyer Panthers will take on the Monsignor Pace Spartans in a tournament on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Dwyer is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since January 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Treasure Coast by a score of 46-44.

Dwyer might have lost, but man, C'Orna Greene was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Greene a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Lynskey, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Pace was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 59-53 to Seacrest Country Day. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Stingrays are ranked 42nd).

Monsignor Pace's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Dwyer, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
