After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Gertrudis Academy, Mathis was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Orange Grove Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in February, they had to take a 10-0 defeat.

Mathis' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Reed, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

With the win, Mathis broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Orange Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2-1.

Coming up, Mathis will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Gertrudis Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Gertrudis Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Orange Grove, they will take on Poth in a tournament on Friday. The last three games Orange Grove has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
