Football Game Preview: Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders vs. Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton

The Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders will challenge Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Palmyra-Macedon has five straight victories, Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Palmyra-Macedon was fully in charge, breezing past Newark/Marion 43-8. Fans of the Red Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Palmyra-Macedon had a senior duo take command as Adam Rapp Jr rushed for 146 yards and three scores on only 15 carries and Mason Delmarle rushed for 136 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Those 136 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Delmarle.

Palmyra-Macedon's run defense was locked in: Newark/Marion could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. While six picked up at least two total tackles, Rapp Jr stood above the rest. He rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Palmyra-Macedon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Jordan Goff led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Johnny Knaak was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles.

Meanwhile, Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton fell victim to Geneva and their airtight defense on Friday. They took an 8-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The game marked the first time this year in which Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton was not able to get on the board.

Palmyra-Macedon's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Palmyra-Macedon suffered a grim 41-21 defeat to Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Red Raiders were down 34-13.
