Baseball Recap: Herscher Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Herscher nor Dwight made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Trojans 4-3. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Nash Brubaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tanner Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 games.

Herscher's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for Dwight, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herscher will venture away from home to face off against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dwight, they will head out on the road to take on Hinckley-Big Rock at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
