Recap: Johns Creek Gladiators vs. Lassiter Trojans

After flying high against the Heritage Patriots last Saturday, the Johns Creek Gladiators came back down to earth. Johns Creek opened the new year with a less-than-successful 50-39 defeat to Lassiter. While losing is never fun, Johns Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Lassiter is ranked 52nd).

Lassiter can attribute much of their success to Aidyn Davis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Jaden Emmanuelli was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Johns Creek has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Lassiter, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Johns Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Alpharetta at 7:30 p.m. Lassiter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Walton at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Walton is on a three-game streak of home wins, Lassiter a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
