Football Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against LaVergne last Friday, Franklin came back down to earth. The Admirals fell just short of the Gallatin Green Wave by a score of 23-20 on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, don't look at Joseph Panaia. Despite the final result, he rushed for 163 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The Admirals also got help from Miles Putnam, who showed off his sure hands for 130 receiving yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.2 yards per carry. While two picked up at least two total tackles, Zyan Brown stood above the rest. He made two total tackles. Franklin's ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Gallatin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Stroup, who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns. The Green Wave's leading receiver Ontarius 'Oni' Scott was Stroup's top target yet again, picking up 105 receiving yards and one score.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gallatin, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will welcome Shelbyville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Admirals their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Gallatin, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Centennial at 7:00 p.m.
