Baseball Recap: Leigh Comes Up Short

Leigh extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 15-9. They lost 9-1 to the Willow Glen Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

Leigh saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Low, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Willow Glen, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Willow Glen's side, Kelan Cunningham got the start for Willow Glen and what a start it was: he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Connor Hoover relieved him and did a solid job, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zack Koontz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Mudgett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Leigh has already played their next game, a 5-3 win against Westmont on the 12th. As for Willow Glen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Cupertino on the 9th.
