Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline lost against Central Plains back in February of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Skyline Thunderbirds had to suffer through a 67-23 loss at the hands of the Central Plains Oilers. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Oilers are ranked 65th).

Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Kooper Wesley, who posted ten points. Wesley is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Riley Griffith also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Skyline and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Central Plains, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Skyline didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-48 win against Fairfield on the 17th. Central Plains has also already played their next game (against Victoria), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
