Baseball Game Preview: South Gate Rams vs. St. Paul Swordsmen

The South Gate Rams will take on the St. Paul Swordsmen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

South Gate fell victim to Legacy and their airtight pitching crew last Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Serra hit St. Paul with a seven-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Swordsmen fell 9-4 to the Cavaliers. Surprisingly, this marked the Swordsmen's third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Elias Mota was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mota was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Troy Sibolboro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

South Gate's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for St. Paul, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
