Baseball Recap: Saugatuck Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Saugatuck's offense. They fell just short of the Allegan Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Trailblazers were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2018.

Holden Burd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Saugatuck is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-13 otherwise.

Saugatuck has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Allegan, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

While Saugatuck had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
