Baseball Recap: Salida Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Salida can now relate to. They came up short against the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners on Saturday, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Anthony Taverna was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Taverna wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tao Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Salida's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Salida does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-3 loss against The Classical Academy on the 17th.
