Basketball Recap: Izaiah Vazquez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leto over Sickles

Leto was the 61-56 winner over Sickles when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Leto Falcons came up short against the Sickles Gryphons on Tuesday, falling 85-60. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 525th, while the Gryphons are ranked 188th).

Leto lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Izaiah Vazquez, who posted 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakobe Bruton, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 17 points.

Sickles' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Weismiller, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and three steals. Ian Kyler was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points.

Leto's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Sickles, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Leto has already played their next match, a 69-67 victory against Tampa Bay Tech on the 17th. As for Sickles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-50 win against Durant on the 17th.
