Basketball Game Preview: The Ehrhart School Eagles vs. Texas Christian Tigers

For the first time this season, The Ehrhart School will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Texas Christian Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for The Ehrhart School and six for Texas Christian dating back to last season.

On Monday, The Ehrhart School came up short against Good Samaritan HomeSchool and fell 58-51. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1347th, while the Hornets are ranked 397th).

Despite the defeat, The Ehrhart School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Blake Byars shot 53% from beyond the arc on his way to 37 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Byars is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Christian Magaleno, who posted four points along with seven assists, six steals, and five boards.

Meanwhile, Texas Christian came up short against The Awty International on Thursday, falling 71-47.

The Ehrhart School's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Texas Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
