Basketball Recap: Lili Mcclain Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mercer County

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the St. Bede Bruins beat the Mercer County Golden Eagles 50-45. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

St. Bede's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lili McClain, who went 9-for-18 en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave McClain a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Savannah Bray, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

St. Bede was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

St. Bede's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Mercer County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season.

Looking ahead, St. Bede will challenge Gardner-South Wilmington at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mercer County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
