Softball Recap: Southeast Comes Up Short

Southeast lost against Steubenville back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pirates fell 9-5 to the Big Red.

Morgan Muncy and Ava Stephens stepped up to the plate in a big way. Muncy went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Stephens went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. That triple was Stephens' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hayes, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Steubenville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast will face off against Brookfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Steubenville, they will square off against Weir at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
