Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

Bloomfield had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Deming Wildcats with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Cable Carruth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Spencer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Gavin Pecotte was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deming only posted an OBP of .308.

Bloomfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Deming, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season.

Bloomfield will take on Albuquerque Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. Deming does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
