Baseball Recap: Havana Wins Going Away Against Astoria/VIT

Havana won the last time they faced Astoria/VIT and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Ducks put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 10-4 win.

Havana got a great performance from Caleb McDaniel as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. McDaniel also tossed two walks, which is notable because the Ducks are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Olson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Oscar Jones was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Havana's victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Astoria/VIT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-19.

Looking ahead, Havana will face off against Mt. Pulaski at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Ducks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Astoria/VIT, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rushville-Industry at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
