Softball Game Preview: Clifton Central Comets vs. Reed-Custer Comets

Clifton Central hasn't had much luck against Reed-Custer recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Clifton Central will head out on the road to challenge Reed-Custer at 4:30 p.m. Clifton Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Clifton Central came up short against Pontiac and fell 11-6.

Lia Prairie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Ponton, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Reed-Custer and Sandwich meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Comets fell just short of the Indians by a score of 5-4. The Comets have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Clifton Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1. As for Reed-Custer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Clifton Central might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Reed-Custer in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Clifton Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
