Baseball Recap: Okemah Triumphs

After losing to Mounds the last time they met, Okemah decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Panthers walked away with a 6-2 win over the Golden Eagles on Monday.

Kainan Coon was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brodie Crowe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Rhett Rogers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Okemah's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Mounds, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Coincidentally, Okemah and Mounds will both be playing Liberty the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Golden Eagles will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
