Preview: Towns County Indians vs. Washington-Wilkes Tigers

Towns County is 8-0 against Washington-Wilkes since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Towns County Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Washington-Wilkes Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Towns County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Towns County didn't have too much trouble with Greene County at home as they won 68-52. With that win, Towns County brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Towns County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleigh Beaver out in front who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Beaver hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Brelan Sieveking, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Washington-Wilkes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-26 walloping at the hands of Lake Oconee Academy. While losing is never fun, Washington-Wilkes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Lake Oconee Academy is ranked 177th).

Towns County's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Washington-Wilkes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Towns County against Washington-Wilkes in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 59-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Towns County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
