Softball Recap: 15 Straight Road Wins for Nettleton

Nettleton won against Mooreville last Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 5-2 win over the Pontotoc Warriors. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won six contests in a row.

Nettleton's win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pontotoc, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Nettleton and Pontotoc should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Nettleton (ranked ninth) will meet Hatley (ranked 52nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Nettleton 1.7, Hatley 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pontotoc will face off against Clarksdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (30 vs. 148).
