Baseball Game Preview: Charleston Catholic Irish vs. Poca Dots

The Charleston Catholic Irish will face off against the Poca Dots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Charleston Catholic managed to slip by Independence the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Irish lost 12-5 to the Patriots on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Irish have suffered since March 29th.

Poca couldn't beat Capital on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Dots came up short against the Cougars, falling 16-6. The Dots have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Poca saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Bonnett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. T.J. Hawley was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Poca's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Charleston Catholic, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Everything went Charleston Catholic's way against Poca when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Charleston Catholic made off with a 20-1 victory. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
