Volleyball Recap: Caroline Bradshaw Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Fort Scott

Girard won the last time they faced Fort Scott and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tigers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

While Girard won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-13.

Girard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caroline Bradshaw led the charge by getting four digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Bradshaw a new career-high.

Bradshaw wasn't the only good servers: Girard was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.

Girard's win bumped their record up to 21-9. As for Fort Scott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 18 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-22-2 record this season.

Girard will take on McPherson in a tournament on Saturday. As for Fort Scott, they will venture away from home to square off against Field Kindley on Tuesday.
