Softball Recap: Kanab Finds Playoff Glory Versus Rowland Hall

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Kanab had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Rowland Hall Winged Lions with a sharp 20-12 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cowboys also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Heidi Marshall, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Tessa Veater also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kanab kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 13.2.

Kanab has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Rowland Hall, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Kanab has already played their next game, a 16-1 defeat against Beaver on the 3rd. Rowland Hall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
