Basketball Recap: Jaylen Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lutheran South Academy over Westbury

If Lutheran South Academy was riding high fresh off their 71-48 takedown of Tournament Opponent on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers fell 64-56 to the Westbury Huskies on Saturday.

Lutheran South Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaylen Walker, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. His big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Anderson, who earned 12 points.

Westbury found their leader in sophomore Ibrahim Allim, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Allim is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrion Hubbard, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Lutheran South Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Westbury, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Lutheran South Academy has already played their next game, a 51-33 defeat against Concordia Lutheran on the 2nd. As for Westbury, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-55 win against Milby on the 1st.
