Preview: Hope Academy Trojan Tigers vs. South Lake Eagles

Hope Academy is 0-3 against the Eagles since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Hope Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.

Even though Cocoa scored an imposing 68 points on Wednesday, Hope Academy still came out on top. Hope Academy managed a 73-68 win over the Tigers.

It was another big night for Dwayne Foreman III, who scored 38 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'vion Jenkins, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, South Lake came up short against the Hawks on Friday and fell 58-51. South Lake has not had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was David PINA, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Isaiah Pina was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.

Hope Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for South Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Hope Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 58-48 loss to the Eagles. Can Hope Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
